GOTO Book Club live
An evening with Hannah Fry and Simon Singh
Book Club Live brings the brightest and boldest ideas from leading authors to the stage, focusing on influential science, tech and dev books. Join us for our inaugural event on Tuesday, October 19 at CodeNode, located in the heart of London’s Tech City.
We’ll kick the series off with two best-selling authors, Hannah Fry, a professor, mathematician and presenter of multiple critically acclaimed BBC documentaries, and Simon Singh, a theoretical and particle physicist, journalist and TV producer specializing in science and mathematics.
Both Hannah and Simon will present a keynote talk moderated by Kevlin Henney before sitting together for a Book Club interview focused on Hannah’s latest book and Simon's first book:
- From Hannah: Rutherford and Fry's Complete Guide to Absolutely Everything (Abridged), a comprehensive guidebook about how intuition is a terrible guide, how often our gut guesses let us down and how science is the only way to step outside our bodies and see the world as it really is.
- From Simon: Fermat’s Last Theorem, the story of the search for a proof of Fermat's Last Theorem, a riddle that confounded the world's greatest minds for 358 years. The book is the first mathematics book to become a number one seller in the United Kingdom, while Simon's documentary, The Proof, on which the book was based, won a BAFTA in 1997.
We’ll follow the interview with an attendee-led Q&A where you can get all your burning questions answered before winding down the evening at CodeNode’s SpaceBar to meet and mingle with attendees and the speakers over complimentary bites and drinks.
